A Pincushion or Two

I'm back from my little vacation to the West Coast.  We had such a great time visiting Liz.  We did a ton of fun stuff, and even fit some sewing in.  Liz graciously let me raid her scrap bin and sew up something I've been wanting for quite a while now.  It's a Pincushion Caddy from Anna Maria Horner's sewing book, Seams to Me.

It was fun to look through her scraps of beautiful fabrics and put a few together.  I love it.

I didn't use a very stiff interfacing for the center tube (Didn't look close enough at the directions) so when I brought it home I opened the center seam and slid in some cereal box cardboard to make the center a little more roomy.

Thank you Liz, what a treat that was for me.

Speaking of pincushion treats.  Check out the pincushion cupcake my mom gave me for Christmas.  Isn't is just so cute?

When I first got it, little Loo Loo busied himself sticking a pin in each of the polk-a-dots on top, over and over again.

I don't know who made it. Mom picked it up at a craft show somewhere. But it is constructed in such a creative way.  Wouldn't it just be fun to sew up a batch of these to serve to your dollies at the tea party?

Bye for now!
