...in with the New!

I love it when a New Year rolls around.  The idea of a clean slate and new years resolutions.  I always get the urge to go through the corners of my house that haven't seen daylight in a while and get rid of things.  I have been doing just that this week.  I have hit the attic and the garage, the pantry and the porch. It feels so good to carry a lighter load.   What I need to do is have a go at my sewing area.   I'll get to it I know because I need to make room for a few new goodies that came in the mail on Monday.

I have been eyeing Anna Maria Horner's Renaissance Ribbons.  I could have kicked myself for not looking at them a little closer at quilt market.  These pictures don't do them justice.  They are beautiful.  But what to do with them?

I am going to do a little experimenting.  I have a project in the works that I wanted to try them on so I ordered some as a little Happy New Year gift to me.  It came just in time. :)  They also sent me a little surprise pack of large, luscious scraps.  Okay I just noticed on the website that a scrap pack would accompany any order over $50 but I didn't know that before and I was so surprised and excited!

Some voile, some linen, some cotton, and some incredibly soft flannel.  Some of them were almost a fat quarter size.

What a lovely present.  Thank you AMH store!! There was one more item waiting for me in the bottom of the box.

I bought couple of yards of her new Rayon Challis.  I love these poppies!

I'm so excited to sew this up.  It has such wonderful drape to it.  I'm going to make myself a dress this year.  I just need to decide on a pattern.

Any dress pattern suggestions??

  1. I loved that fabric! I haven't bought any of the rayons yet ~ I've been waiting to see what others are going to do with them.
